The SA Electoral Commission (IEC) only
allows citizens who are abroad temporarily to
vote in next year's national and provincial
elections. These include people who are on
holiday, sportspeople, students studying
abroad as well as those on business trips.

Howzit !

Welcome to the only inter-active website for South Africans living
in Hong Kong and Macau. I hope that this initiative will be just
that: a small online piece of South Africa right here in Hong Kong
& Macau.
When I first arrived in the SAR, I had some trouble finding out
what happens around town where South Africans are concerned.
Then I found the SA Association in Hong Kong and promptly
started receiving the monthly newsletter from them.
The website Howzit Hong Kong! was conceptualised in the
euphoria of the victorious Rugby World Cup victory last year when
a group of fanatic Bok-supporters made Delaney's in Wan Chai
our home-from-home during the month-long tournament and we
needed to get information about games etc. sent out as well as to
stay in touch.
Howzit Hong Kong! has been around for a year now and for the
month of December will feature a reflection of what happened in
the South African community in Hong Kong during the year as
well as what we can look forward to for 2009.
We will also add some brand-new features such as a classified
section where you will be able to advertise your professional
service etc. Please be on the lookout for this great new service.

you will be able to see a collection of more than 800 pictures that
I have taken with my trusted point-and-click throughout 2008

How's it? or Howzit? is a very common informal
greeting for English speaking South Africans and
second language speakers of English from all
backgrounds. It may derive from the informal
Afrikaans greeting "Hoe's dit?" Literally translated
as:  "How's it?" (From: Wikipedia) So it comes as
no suprise that the typical Joburg greeting of
Howzit my China! has so much relevance to all
of the South Africans who call Hong Kong, Macau
