Nando’s is back at Park & Shop

I am happy to report that, just in time for winter…

Nando’s is back on the shelves at Park & Shop.

A trip to the shops here in Hung Hom turned out to be a happy one.  Ever the scout for South African products here in Hong Kong, I was delighted not only for the Nando’s but that Park & Shop is also still selling the Nederburg 2010 FIFA World Cup selection at a great price no less.

This is how Howzit-HongKong.com reported when the Nederburg 2010 range was first released in Hong Kong.

I stand to be corrected, but it could be selling for around $79 for 2 bottles.

I bought this baby two days before Christmas!

Nederburg carries 2010 flag for SA

In response to my previous post about the South African wine industry in Hong Kong, Helena wrote to inform us that Nederburg is the official wine for the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup and that the limited edition Twenty Ten range includes a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Dry Rose.

So far Howzit-HongKong.com has seen TwentyTen in Park ‘n Shop stores.

If consumers are not well-versed with Nederburg wines, they can use their internet-enabled cell phones to log onto the mobi-website printed on the bottle’s label to go directly to the mobi.nederburg.co.za website to learn more about the different varieties, right there in the store.  For obvious reasons, you have to enter your date-of-birth but once you’re in there, click on the FIFA-tab to learn more about the TwentyTen varietals.  Howzit-HongKong.com did it and voila:

SA wine industry making moves in HK

You may remember my recent report about certain South African wine estates’ accusation that the SA Consulate in Hong Kong gives them very little support with breaking into the local market.  Well, I know that the report was probably one-sided, but I have asked to Consulate to give a written rebuttal (which I am still waiting for).

Be that as it may, It seems that the SA industry’s participation in the recently held Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair is paying dividends because there is a noticeable increase of SA brands on the Hong Kong shelves.  I noticed that Park ‘n Shop is selling some Nederburg brands called Twenty Ten, of course referring to the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup that’s taking place in SA in about five months’ time.

The South China Morning Post’s PostMagazine carried the following feature in their January 3 edition:
