Sunny winters day…


Despite the cold weather we have been experiencing over the Christmas weekend, today (Tuesday 28 December 2010) turned out to be quite a bright, sunny day here in Hong Kong.

Somebody on FaceBook asked me “Does Hong Kong ever get cold?“  Well, it dipped all the way to 9 degrees Celsius recently.

For this reason, my family and I took a trip into the city (Hong Kong Island) on the Star Ferry to experience the weather from the waters of Victoria Harbour (that separates our apartment in Hung Hom from HK Island).

I took the following pictures from the Star Ferry around 3pm this afternoon:

MegaShow returns in October


If you’re in the Festive Goods business, chances are you will be busy stocking up for Christmas.  Every year around October, thousands of buyers, including those from South Africa, flock to Hong Kong’s annual MegaShow I & II.

This year will be no different.  Organisers KenFair has announced that MegaShow I will take place at the HK International Convention & Exhibition Center between 20-23 October 2010 while MegaShow II takes place a week later between 28-30 October 2010.

Mega Show Part2


Last week we reported on one of the major exhibitions that will be hosted in Hong Kong this year.  Close on the heels of the Mega Show come the Mega Show Part 2.

Covering all things Gifts & Decor, Home Interiors (a new addition to the exhibition offering this year) as well as Office and Stationery, the Mega Show Part 2 takes place at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre 5 days after the end of Part 1 of the Mega Show double.

Mega Show Part 2 is now in it’s 8th year and has established itself as an essential date on the international sourcing calendar.

Organisers Kenfair also announced that, as in the past, the GO GREEN theme will form an essential part of the exhibition in the form of highlighting eco-friendly products.

Consulate supports SA companies at Cosmoprof 2009


In November 2007 the South African Consulate in Hong Kong collaborated with the South African Cosmetic Export Council (SACEC) to set up the South African Pavilion at the annual Cosmoprof Exhibition at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Consul for Trade, Mr Ricado Andrews together with CEO of the SACEC, Mr Max Wilgen were responsible for providing the platform for 10 SA companies involved in the Health & Wellness industry to showcase their wares to trade customers from all over the world.

This year, the South African Consulate will assist 12 South African companies who will exhibit their products at the 14th Edition of Cosmoprof Asia.   Cosmoprof is the world’s leading health, beauty and and wellness exhibition and brings together around 1300 exhibitors from 36 countries.  This year, around 39 000 visitors from around the world are expected at the Hong Kong exhibition from 11-13 November 2009, to be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center.
