Howzit!

Welkom in Hong Kong mense!
slegs 'n paar dae hier vanaf Taiwan!) My kinders onthou nog steeds vir "Uncle" Savvas Hadjiphanis wat
ons lekker bederf het met 2 sakkies van die beste! Sommer net so! Daai's regte
Ubuntu vir jou...

Afrika mens-wees...

Howzit!

Welcome to Hong Kong mense!
For those of you who don't know, there are quite a few Saffas who call Hong Kong home.  You may meet
some of us during the HK Sevens. Let me tell you how to do it: just open a bag of slightly-moist kudu or
beef biltong with great fanfare and have a look a who's mouths are dripping with delight!  I know what I
am talking about, it hapened to my family during the HK Sevens last year (and then we were here for
only a few days from Taiwan!) My kids still fondly remember "Uncle" Savvas Hadjiphanis who treated us
with two bags of South Africa's best! Just like that! That is what
Ubuntu is all about...

African Humanity.
Uncle Savvas Hadjiphannas & Ethan Jansen
Die laaitie bly al die meeste van sy 7 jare in
Asia, maar 'n sakkie biltong maak hom nog
steeds 'n hêppie chêppie! Dankie UncleSavvas!
So why did we decide to put together this SA Must-have Guide to the Hong Kong Sevens? Well, some you who are
visiting Hong Kong from South Africa will most probably come here with an organised tour group. The organisers of such
tours will usually have a detailed itinerary for the 3 of 4 days of your stay in the Special Administrative Region, or SAR
as Hong Kong is also called. However, such itineraries will also have quite a bit of time set aside for "leisure" or
"free-time."  For those who are here for the very first time, you have way too little time and way too much to see,
experience, taste, yes AND drink! Let's have a look at a "typical" itinerary for the HK Sevens:

Thurday March 27, 2008
You probably arrive sometime in the afternoon/evening and the rest of the day is taken up by settling into your hotel.
You could have some FREE TIME later the evening.

Friday March 28, 2008    (Day 1 of the HK Sevens)
You have most of the day for FREE TIME!
Kick-off is only at:        4:30pm
Last game ends at:      9:00pm
Hey! You have more FREE TIME!

Saturday March 29, 2008 (Day 2 of the HK Sevens)
Kick-off for the day's games start at 10:30am, but you're probably still babbalaas and needs a lekke brêkkie.
Kick-off is at:               10:30am
Last game ends at:     7:00pm
Eish! You have the whole evening FREE TIME!

Sunday March 30, 2008   (Day 3 of the HK Sevens)
Weer-eens: Kick-off is only at 09:45am, so get your stomach lined,it's going to be a loooong day, especially when
the Boks win!
Kick-off is at:                09:45am
Cup Presentation:        6:50pm
Of course, you have all the FREE TIME you want until your plane leaves!

While the WanChai-District has it's allure and, shall we call it "nuances" THE party hang-out for HK Sevens 2008
is definately Lan Kwai Fong otherwise known as LKF! The HKRFU will be running a FREE CityBus shuttle service
between HK Stadium and LKF so, Bru... you cannot get lost, ek sê!
Read more on LKF Here.
You always get something out.

Before you click on their pics to find out the answer, come on... Who are they?
As jy nie ten minste EEN uit VIER score nie, ou Pêl, dan moet jy maar liefs by die huis bly! Jy kan natuurlik ook 'n " Mo Shaik " (skelm wees) doen en

The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sevens TV Ad (2007)

Title sponsors Cathay Pacific produced this lekke TV ad to get us all into the
spirit for the greatest tournament on the IRB Sevens Circuit: Hong Kong Baby!
As Hong Kong is the traditional home of Asian martial arts movies, of course it
had to have a kung fu theme!  Enjoy.
What do you do after the day's rugby is done?

OK, we've established just how much FREE TIME you have at your disposal.  You'll be in the SAR for only so many days... what can you do to maximise
your experience and enjoy Hong Kong to the fullest?
Shopping                                   Sightseeing                            Drinking Out                            Eating Out                                Nightspots/Music
The Hong Kong Stadium Lay-out

So you have your ticket, but it's your first time out here.  What do you do and where do you go?
Firstly, you must know that your ticket allows you to sit anywhere. Where do you go in this vast
stadium?

Onthou... the Hong Kong Stadium is divided into four main sections:
* The South Stand
* The North Stand
* The East Stand
* The West Stand

Both the South and North Stands are UNCOVERED STANDS while the East and West Stands
have an Upper and lower Level (Covered)

The
South Stand has developed a rather infamous reputation as the PARTY STAND! This stand
is right under the big screen and scoreboard and is WHERE THE PARTY HAPPENS!  Fancy
dress, girls, heavy drinking, "flying beer," noise and general party activities abound here!

The
West Stand (Upper and Lower levels) houses the media enclosures and most of the
corporate suites.  It is also a covered stand, while the
East Stand (Upper and Lower Levels) also
houses some corporate suite and is also covered.

The
North Stand is close to the entrance to Hong Kong Stadium and is where most of the South
African Supporters
like to gather.

The corners between the East and North Stand, as well as between the West and North Stand is
where the Teams enter and exit the playing field and generally a good vantage point.
